Wildwood Highlands and Lobos Management’s Waldorf Park

Posted on: September 12, 2012

Amusement parks have a long tradition in Western Pennsylvania, many of which were founded at the end of the nineteenth century. In the northern corner of the state is Conneaut Lake Park, a family resort that originally opened to the public in 1892. Farther south in Ligonier, PA is Idlewild Park and Soak Zone, an established site for recreation and congregation since 1878. And naturally, the shining star of Pittsburgh area amusement parks is West Mifflin’s Kennywood Park, opened originally in 1898 as a trolley park that quickly morphed into the area’s largest amusement attraction. The long legacy that is firmly established by these historic parks has helped to create some smaller amusement areas in the Pittsburgh metropolitan region. Most notable of these smaller parks is Wildwood Highlands, a family fun center located in the North Hills. Wildwood Highlands provides some of the best weekend entertainment in the area offering go karts, miniature golf, snow tubing, bumper boats, and a laser tag arena. On Friday and Saturday evenings, Wildwood Highlands transforms its outdoor tented pavilion into a concert venue for local musical performers and variety shows. The park is available for hosting private engagements such as birthday parties and work outings and is conveniently located just a few short miles from Downtown Pittsburgh.

Also in the North Hills is Lobos Management’s Waldorf Park Apartments, a large housing complex located on McKnight Circle. One of the most exciting aspects of Waldorf Park is the building’s emphasis on community and congregation. Public areas include a party room – which is available to all residents – a weight room, an indoor / outdoor swimming pool, and onsite picnic areas. Aside from the building’s close proximity to Wildwood, this Lobos Management property is also located within seconds of the shopping, dining, and nightlife along McKnight Road.
